A little history . . .
Walton Mill was built in 1900 to spin and weave cotton from the local fields into cloth. More than just a sprawling campus of industrial enterprise, this place holds the stories of a century of the small town American Dream lived out day by day as thousands of men and women worked here to provide for their families. The Mill really was the heart of the community. And then in 2006, there was no more work to be done. The buildings fell empty and the weeds began to grow.
Now there is a new chapter in Monroe’s Mill District on the south edge of downtown.
Now these buildings are being carefully and lovingly restored to serve other purposes – offices, shops, cafes, studios, apartments, and a beautiful and well appointed wedding venue – The Factory at Walton Mill.
